Peloton Residences

Peloton Residences sits at the corner of Park Street and Fish Hatchery Road in Madison, a site with a history rooted in dairy and industrial manufacturing. The design doesn’t ignore that history — it builds on it. Three buildings of three to six stories surround an elevated, landscaped courtyard, with the Park Street elevation drawing on an industrial warehouse aesthetic through large divided light windows, inset balconies, soldier course and row lock brick detailing, and an exposed steel canopy at the first-level commercial spaces. At the point of the wedge, the design transitions into something more contemporary, reflecting the broader evolution of the Park Street corridor.

The development includes 178 apartment units, five live-work units, and 11,541 square feet of commercial space spread across the ground floor and a sixth-level community space. The mix of residential, live-work, and commercial uses creates an active, layered streetscape that contributes to the ongoing revitalization of one of Madison’s most dynamic neighborhoods.

Idylwood Residences

Idylwood Residences brings 219 apartments to a 14-acre parcel on Janesville’s east side, offering studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans with modern finishes and resort-style amenities. The community is made up of six two-story garden-style buildings and one three-story building with underground parking, creating a mix of scales that feels more like a neighborhood than a typical apartment complex. A resort-style pool, gourmet grilling area, social lounge, 24-hour fitness center, pet park, and pet spa round out the amenity package.

The location puts residents close to parks, trails, golf courses, and interstate access, making it easy to enjoy the area’s natural surroundings without giving up convenience. Architecture, engineering, site planning, and visualization services were all provided, with Horizon Construction serving as general contractor..

Baker’s Place thoughtfully develops a historically significant site by preserving the Gardner Bakery building and introducing a stepped residential tower that rises 14 stories and wraps into a C-shaped form around an elevated courtyard. Between the existing bakery and the new building, a pedestrian Mews creates an intimate public space where the old and new sit comfortably side by side.

The 206-unit building offers a mix of micro, studio, and one- to three-bedroom units alongside 10,500 square feet of commercial and office space. A hybrid mass timber structure reduces construction emissions by up to 70% compared to concrete, while green roofs, photovoltaics, and a multimodal transit strategy minimize the building’s ongoing footprint. The project is pursuing LEED Silver certification with a strong Passive House influence.

Two Points Crossing- Clubhouse

Two Points Crossing’s clubhouse renovation covers the entrance and community spaces across two floors. The main stair, fireplace, and lobby were updated to create a more cohesive and welcoming arrival experience. The lobby brings together a coffee bar, fireplace, and leasing office in a layout that works well for both residents and prospective tenants.

The second-floor community room includes a pool table, kitchenette, large television, and access to the outdoor pool and fire pit. Warm wood tones, bold navy accents, and a graphic mural give the space a distinct character without overwhelming it.

The Glade

The Glade is a 266-unit market-rate apartment community in Janesville, designed around an existing oak tree grove that naturally shapes the site and creates a beautiful backdrop for three of the five buildings. The development offers a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units across buildings ranging from 33 to 57 units each. A contemporary farmhouse aesthetic runs throughout, with fieldstone, composite siding, and a mix of steel and shingled roofing giving the exterior a grounded, high-end character.

A 3,500-square-foot clubhouse anchors the community, featuring a pool deck, fitness center, community room, and support spaces. Open lawn and native prairie make up the site grounds, balancing active outdoor space with a more natural, low-maintenance landscape. Services included architecture, interior design, site planning, landscaping, structural engineering, and site lighting design.

Cedar Crest Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF)

Cedar Crest wanted to expand their senior living campus in Janesville with a new Community Based Residential Facility, adding an assisted living option to round out their continuum of care. The 87,000-square-foot building houses 76 studio and one-bedroom units, developed in partnership with national architecture firm SFCS. Angus-Young served as interior designer, handling finish selections, artwork, and furniture throughout the facility.

The interior was designed to feel like home from the moment residents arrive. A striking main entry sets the tone, and the design elements throughout draw on familiar patterns and warm details that bring comfort to everyday life. The result balances the quality the owner envisioned with the welcoming atmosphere residents deserve.

Lamphouse Apartments

Lamphouse brings mixed-use living to the heart of downtown Waunakee, with a design that draws on early 1900s industrial character to feel at home on Main Street. The 193,000-square-foot development includes 103 residential units across studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, along with three commercial spaces ranging from 3,400 to 4,700 square feet. Brick detailing, traditional street-level commercial frontage, and thoughtful massing give the building a small-town downtown feel without sacrificing modern livability.

Residents have access to a lobby, coffee bar, meeting room, fitness center, community room, golf simulator, covered bicycle storage, covered and open vehicle parking, and a rooftop recreational space. The combination of ground-floor commercial activity and a well-amenitized residential program makes Lamphouse a genuine contributor to Waunakee’s downtown.

Varying facade styles and stepped upper-floor setbacks keep the streetscape pedestrian-friendly and approachable, reflecting the quaint architectural character of the surrounding downtown. The development spans four buildings, 54,000 square feet of commercial space, and 158 apartment units across 353,000 total square feet.

Resident amenities include a fitness center, rock climbing wall, yoga room, rooftop patios, and a community room. The fourth floor of the office building was designed as a custom corporate headquarters for a local developer, adding a workplace component that rounds out the mixed-use program. The project is part of a larger three-phase development that continues to shape downtown Middleton’s growth.

Village Crossing adds new life to downtown Waunakee while staying grounded in its history. The design wraps around an existing building constructed in 1896, with eight distinct storefront facades, each with its own lighting and custom cornices, carefully detailed to complement the original architecture without mimicking it. French Quarter-style gas lanterns line the Main Street facade, custom steel canopies frame the storefronts, and a two-story atrium anchors the 1856 building at the heart of the development.

The mixed-use program includes 21,175 square feet of ground-floor commercial and retail space, 15,450 square feet of second-floor office space, and a 3,900-square-foot rooftop beer garden serving the brewery tenant below. The result is a block that feels like it has always been part of downtown Waunakee, while offering something genuinely new.
