Blackhawk Technical College‘s central courtyard renovation transformed an underutilized outdoor space into a true heart of campus. BTC branding is woven throughout, giving the space a strong sense of identity and place. Terraced seating, discussion circles, fire pits, a water feature, planting beds, outdoor kitchen spaces, a musical wind-powered sculpture, and shade structures give students and faculty plenty of reasons to spend time here, whether that’s between classes, during an outdoor session, or just to take a break.

The topography of the site connects two different floor levels through ramps and stairs, making the space as functional as it is welcoming. It’s a spot that naturally draws people in and keeps the campus community feeling connected.
